There are many other directions one can go.  You are right that this is the starting point.  

Software is a great way to &quot;give away&quot; and item that then leads people to pay later on (once a trial period is up!).

There are also many types of upsells that one can use when pulling people in with a freebie.  Maybe I should follow this post with a few follow up posts that get into some of the ways people can work with their list building?
